Dear Families and Friends;

With your support, we have operated the Beyond the Placement Program for more than a year. Much of our services are for young adult adoptees seeking more information on their personal history and cultural heritage. Over the past year we had thirty five requests for adoptee services and assisted with eight reunions. Not all requests are for birth family searches. Adoptees are often looking for any information to fill in a missing piece or what it means to be Korean or Vietnamese. Some adoptees have personal problems that could have relief with greater knowledge of their biological history; while others have a medical concern that could be better understood with more information. Services often extend over a year, with extensive supported and assistance as well.

We are asking for your support again. The need for adoptee services will only grow in the coming years. From 1990 to 1999 international adoption agencies placed 100,000 orphaned children with American families. There were 16,000 Korean child placed over this same period. These generations of Korean Americans are now young adults. Helping adoptee explore their personal history is a primary service of the Beyond the Placement Program. Helping this generation to better understand for themselves what it means to be adopted will make it easier for the next generation of adoptees to explore if they choose. Your support now will help ensure that we are here and prepared to help the hundreds of adoptees from China, Russia and Vietnam that are soon to come of age as well.

At this time of year, there are many worthy causes to support. Supporting services to help adoptees explore their history and heritage is not the most glamorous, but it is you, our families friends that best understand the need for and the importance of adoptee services. This is way your support is so needed. You can make a donation online or by downloading a donation form.

Thank you in advance for your consideration of this request. We wish you a happy and healthy Holiday Season and all the best for the coming year.

Warmest Regards,

Timothy Sutfin
