The Morocco Kafala Program is actively collaborating with orphanages and local government officials across Morocco to understand better how we can meet the needs of children awaiting permanent families.

While the number of orphans in Morocco is high, establishing Hague-compliant, responsible, and child-centered partnerships and processes requires careful work and planning. This is a sensitive, time-intensive process, but one to which we are deeply dedicated.

For the last few months, the Morocco Kafala Program Team has made progress in efforts to establish new partnerships in several cities, meeting with orphanage administrators, court officials, and local leaders to explore ways New Beginnings families can navigate kafala processes in accordance with regional laws, cultures, and expectations.

Although the process of establishing new partnerships is ongoing, we are optimistic about the potential for these developments to help find more homes for children in need in the coming months.
