New Opportunities for Families
New Beginnings’ Morocco program continues to evolve, with both the traditional referral process and a court-directed kafala pathway now available.
Earlier this year, four children were placed with families through the Morocco program, and four additional families were matched this summer. These recent matches reflect meaningful progress and additional opportunities for children in Morocco to be placed with families.
New Beginnings is currently seeking qualified families for the Morocco program. Many of the children recently placed have been under 18 months of age; however, families are encouraged to remain open to children 18 months or older, as well as children with identified medical, developmental, or social needs.
Once families are I-600A approved and prepared to travel to be matched, they may experience shorter timelines, particularly if they are flexible and open to a broader range of children. Families of Moroccan heritage and Arabic-speaking families may also have additional opportunities within the program.
Families should also be prepared for the possibility of a longer stay in Morocco, as the in-country process can vary based on court procedures, local requirements, documentation, and immigration steps.
