Post-Adoption Services

 Post-Adoption Reporting and Post-Placement Supervision

After placement, New Beginnings provides Post-Placement Supervision and Post-Adoption Reporting to clients.

  • Post-adoption reporting applies when the adoption is finalized abroad (e.g., Korea). The reporting schedule is set by the sending country and typically continues for one year or more.
  • Post-placement supervision applies when a child is placed under guardianship and the adoption will be finalized in the United States (e.g., Morocco, Thailand, Pakistan, Jamaica). Supervision typically continues for approximately six months or until finalization.

Post-adoption reporting may extend beyond one year, depending on country requirements.

Record Requests & Search Support

Access to Your Adoption Records

Beyond the Placement services include assistance with adoption record requests. Requests must be made by the adoptive parent (for a minor child) or by the adult adoptee.

Many New Beginnings files are digitized. Available information typically reflects the materials provided to the adoptive family at the time of placement and may include documentation related to adoption finalization and the Certificate of Citizenship.

Access to records is subject to applicable laws, country-specific requirements, and any restrictions in place at the time of the adoption.

Search Guidance for Adult Adoptees

As adoptees reach adulthood, many seek information about their background, including birth family history and the circumstances of their adoption. New Beginnings provides guidance on reviewing available records and understanding next steps.

When appropriate, staff can outline the process for conducting a search and provide directions on available resources. Search services depend on legal permissions, country conditions, and the availability of information.
